Laser Peeling Treatment: Common Types
The CO2 laser - The Highest intensity laser peel available. The treatment causes the surface of the skin to appear tighter and smoother. The laser creates heat which restricts the collagen bands at the lower layers of the dermis. The CO2 type usually eliminates most wrinkles, scars, warts, birthmark and other skin issues.
Erbium Lasers
Erbium lasers remove thinner layers of skin surface (thinner, but more precise than the CO2 type mentioned above). More compatible to people with dark skin due to reduced risk of hyper-pigmentation. Along with a shorter healing period, the Erbiumpeels are most suited for patients with good, healthy skin that require a fine removal of lines or wrinkles.
Fraxel® Laser Skin Resurfacing
This treatment is quite different from other laser peels mentioned above . The Fraxel laser procedure is relatively non-invasive and causes no skin tenderness or pain. However, it’s important to note that this is a continuous treatment that may take weeks or even months to show substantial results.
To be continued.
