Seborrhea treatment or the frustration of dealing with dandruff as it is commonly known to millions takes dedication. My father had it for years and his choice of seborrhea treatment was a standard for many people he knew; the strange smelling blue shampoo. I do not think he gave much thought to what caused his seborrhea. At the time there were plenty of commercials promoting the popular blue shampoo and he was sold on it for his seborrhea treatment method.

Seborrhea also affects the face as well as the scalp and for some people it is a common cause of hair loss. This oiliness of your skin causes redness, scaling, itchiness, and the all too familiar white flakes that look like snow or salt on dark clothing. What my father did not know is there are sebaceous glands on our scalp and face. While seborrhea is not contagious if severe enough it can spread to your eyebrows, nose, and ears.

Normally a simple case of seborrhea will last a few weeks and disappears as quickly as it appeared. This is the cause with dandruff most adults. In the case of infants seborrhea is commonly called cradle cap, and is usually the result of a stimulation of maternal hormones. When a seborrhea treatment does not work with shampoos or does not appear to go away on its own then it may be time to seek the advice of a doctor or dermatologist.

Finding a natural treatment for seborrhea could be as simple as raising the humidity in your house or living space. This is especially help in the winter months when the lower humidity rates tend to dry out our skin and trigger seborrhea or dandruff.
The skin is usually dry during winter due to low environmental humidity and this aggravates the dandruff. The humidity is also low in centrally- heated houses.

Raising the humidity rate is not the only means of seborrhea treatment. The sun is also a natural seborrhea treatment as well as being beneficial to our mood. Think about it. Have you ever noticed how cheerful everyone is on a sunny day, with the exception of intense heat, people enjoy being outdoors on a sunny day. In the winter when there’s less sunlight we feel less active and suffer the effects of the dry temperatures. And, exposure to the sun is helpful in preventing the growth of the yeast. Of course, you should take precautions to protect your skin from too much sun.

Today there are more options for seborrhea treatment. Among the most popular are steroid creams (which can worsen the situation in some cases and is not recommended) or antifungal shampoos. Look for products that contain zinc pyrithione and selenium sulfide, which are common ingredients in dandruff shampoos. These are known to be effective for seborrhea treatment.

Tea tree oil is a natural ingredient that when added to your shampoo can helps clear up this condition. Another natural ingredient found in my mother’s kitchen was apple cider vinegar that my grandfather suggested for use if mixed one to one. Preparing the mixture and then rub it in your hair and leave it in for about fifteen minutes, then rinse. The availability of other natural products for seborrhea treatment can be found at your local health store. If your symptoms should worsen or a natural seborrhea treatment does not seem effective then seek the advice of a medical professional.
