Using vitamins for acne would never have occurred to me when I was young. According to my mother I was allergic to chocolate, which I ate often. As for my friends, who did not enjoy chocolate, it appeared the acne was the curse of our youth. We scrubbed; we tried lotions and creams to no avail. So later in life when the thought of using vitamins for acne was suggested by a friend, I thought I’d give it a try.

One thing to consider when looking for options to treat your acne is your diet. The old saying that we are what we eat makes perfect sense. Eat too much and you get heavy. The same is true for a lack of certain vitamins and nutrients that build up our immune systems and protect us from diseases. A healthy diet will help reduce breaks out as well as choosing the right vitamins for acne.

While many studies suggest that milk is good for your body for some drinking milk can contribute to acne. Milk personally makes my stomach upset, although I can eat limited amounts of cheese and ice cream without a problem. There are alternatives to getting your daily intake of vitamin D and calcium such as eating more fruits and vegetables. One of the key element in caring for your health and overall appearance is to address deficiency in vitamins needed to support good bone strength and health in general. A lack or unbalanced diet could result in an outbreak of ache or worse, a weakened immune system, which makes you more susceptible to illness.

You will find that the vitamins for acne like the A vitamins are used often for the treatment of this skin condition. Vitamin A is found in prescriptions and cosmetic products in the form of Retin-A or Accutane. While these do contain vitamins for acne treatment caution should be taken to avoid high dosages unless advised by a doctor or dermatologist.

Among the popular vitamins for acne is Vitamin E as well, which is also a key ingredient in many cosmetic products. Vitamin E capsules resemble oblong fish eggs to me. The oil inside though is ideal for the treatment of ache and be applied directly on the affected area. As in the case of applying anything to sensitive skin some may find that using certain chemicals and vitamins for acne treatments may cause irritation rather than promoting healing.

One point to consider when taking vitamins for acne or as dietary supplement is that certain vitamins enhance the absorption of the properties needed. This is the case when you take vitamins for acne. The A and E vitamins work best is you also take Zinc. Desitin, that is commonly used to treat diaper rash contains zinc and can be applied directly to the areas affected to kill surface bacteria and treat acne.

In addition to vitamins for acne, your hormones can increase break outs, which is believed to be the case when we are adolescents. A good vitamin to help balance your hormones is magnesium that helps reduce the effect of overactive hormonal cycles, and lessen outbreaks of acne. It is advised that you check with your family doctor or dermatologists for advice on vitamins for acne and other treatment options first before making changes in your lifestyle.
