Don’t let marketing hypes confuse you: Here’s the truth and nothing but it…
“All Natural”
All natural products are by no means safer nor superior. Some “all natural” products may even cause dermatitis (an itchy red rash) in sensitive individuals. Just because it’s “All Natural” it does not mean you won’t are about to enjoy a “reaction free” treatment experience.
“Hypoallergenic”
People with allergies tend to look for products labeled “hypoallergenic“. Since there’s no solid definition of this phrase, the federal standards governing the use of this phrase are vague… So vague that the FDA doesn’t require merchants to submit substantiation of these claims. Basically, it means that you better read product labels in search for specific allergens.
“Fragrance Free”
Although fragrance is considered to be the #1 cause of contact dermatitis (according to the NACD Group) - which is why many consumers prefer fragrance-free creams and lotions. However,
“Fragrance-Free” often means that other chemicals hide the fragrance, so that the product doesn’t have any strong smell at all.
That’s why it’s important to be familiar with the fragrance based substances and avoid the usage of products that contain them. Among the “better avoid” products you can find:, Bisabolol, benzyl alcohol, almond oil, benzaldehyde, chamomile extract, cedarwood oil, rosewood oil, and rose oil.
